Linköping

Linköping University

At Linköping University you will be welcomed to the wonderful world of biomedicine by the students of the MedBi-family. You will be given an oppurtunity for studies in an awesomely interesting field, as well as a the chance to be a part of the community of your fellow MedBi students. The MedBi section offers a range of different activities; everything from parties and dinner events, to inpirational meetings about how to apply for exchange studies in Singapore.

The program kicks off with a two week initiation period, the so called nolle-p, which is a crazy-fun way for you to get to know your new classmates and seniors. Nolle-p also offers a chance to become familiar with student life in Linköping. During nolle-p you are invited to the ”Kalas mottagning”, one of the countries perhaps biggest welcoming events for students. Earlier events have featured bands such as Mando Diao and The Ark and all of this is free, for you as a new student!

The bachelor’s program in Medical Biology employes a method of teaching known as problem based learning (PBL). This means that you will work in small collaborative groups, where the teacher functions as a ”facilitator of teaching” guiding the group as you solve problems which integrate all the biomedical disciplines, such as pharmacology, physiology, biochemistry and cellular biology.

When you have completed the program you will have extensive knowledge about the functions of the human body (on both a systemic and cellular level), how disease and foreign substances affect us and different methods to study the different processes of the human body. You will also be a real laboratory ace, which will give you an edge when you apply for jobs later on.

Former students of the medical biology program now hold positions in research groups around the globe, they are pharmaceutical consultants, have started their own biotechnical companies, or work with clinical trials.

Welcome to Linköping and to the bachelor’s program in Medical Biology!
